It is involved in the synthesis of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and in the metabolism of certain amino acids. It supports the formation of new cells and the embryo's development; it helps reduce the risk of birth defects. Together with vitamin B6 and B12, it is involved in homocysteine ​​metabolism.
